In Response To: Hunters don't make much sense. (Boris) : If hunters are just colonies of worms, than why can they: 1) Grunt when they
99% of Halo players don't know, and don't care, that Hunters are colonies of worms. They look big and big animals have deep 'voices'. Their deep grunts and laughs add to the sense of menace. It doesn't make much sense when you look at them as a bunch of worms but I think that Bungie made the right decision. OTOH in Halo 2, the Hunters sometimes sound like pan pipes. I think that someone at Bungie imagined what a collection of hollow worms would sound like. If they could force air through their hollow parts then they may sound like pan pipes. : 2) Have individual thought (Halo: The Flood) Tricky. :-) : 3) Die and not just split of and keep going (Ogada gets his head blown off
Everybody wonders why one shot from the pistol can kill them. You would think that if some worms died then the others would just carry on. Maybe it has something to do with their communal mind, with the idea that they are 'really' one organism. Damage part and the whole is killed. But I don't know what the mechanism is. Do they die of shock? From the pain? Are some worms specialized and therefore more important than others? Or does the whole die if you kill a certain percentage of its constituents? I doubt that even the folks at Bungie have thought of an answer. If you can come up with something convincing then it may become 'the truth'.
