Yeah, it says Hunters have spines. You know those things on their backs? Those clearly visible things poking up from the rear of the Hunter when it crouches. Spines.

Unless you're talking about the spine being cut by gunfire, in which case I simply have to point out that just because the Hunter is a colony of worms, that doesn't mean it can't have a spine inside there somewhere. They are alien life forms, after all.
