In Response To: Re: Forerunners (Xaos) : There are many theories out there regarding who the forerunners are and how
: I tend to adhere to number 1. It makes halo seem more like the book
: Chose the theory you like. Mine Halo and Halo 2 for info and create a whole
There are too many indicators that theory 1 is the case. My favorite is from Jones' mouth. There was an interview where he said Halo's story is influenced by many a sci fi novel, namely Ringworld, Starhammer, and The Mote in God's Eye. We all understand and recognize the Ringworld and Starhammer elements, (those of us who have read the books) and the idea of a civilization that keeps blasting itself back into the stone age once it gets too advanced fits too perfectly with the "Humans are Forerunner" theory for me to ignore. Granted, 343 GS says there's only been one firing, but the idea of a civilization realizing it's history goes much farther back than originally thought strikes way too close with many of the tidbits of the story that are revealed in the games. That's got to be it. Although personally, I'd much rather discover that the Flood isn't some kind of bioweapon or product of the Forerunner(see: "I am monument to your sins"). I'd rather they have a history of their own like the Vang did. But that's just me. Either way, can't say I really have any complaints about the story. I wonder how many Halo fans out there haven't put enough thought into how the story connects between games, and just takes Halo as shallowly as "super-soldier with guns blows away aliens and saves the day". ~Ma1 |
