...I was convinced of that after reading Glenn Cook's The Black Company series. I'd say he's quite probably the best author I've ever read, from a structural integrity and flexibility of writing style perspective. But yes, after reading that series (recommended to me by Djof, if memory serves), I was no longer very enamored of Myth's storyline, because while the literal storyline (the flow of events and interactions between characters) wasn't cloned from the Black Company books, the atmosphere was entirely ripped off. At least they rip off first-class stuff. And they are still my favorite game development group, and the games still have great stories. I'm just not blown away by their storyline abilities any more, since they borrowed awfully danged heavily for most of them. -Nate | |
