In Response To: NYC LAN Writeup. *RIDICULOUSLY Long* (Stuntmutt) : Halo CE Multiplayer. Shotgun CTF on Battle Creek. The shotguns! Oh my
I still say that that thing needs a scope. : I'm sure Steve won't mind me saying, but he and I were sort of wildcards.
Let's face it; my function at the LAN was to make Stunt look 1337 by comparison. I don't play these games because I'm good at them, I play because they're fun. (My self-esteem coach tells me to keep repeating that.) Yet the Joy of Halo (either edition) is that even when you're on the bottom rung you can still sometimes be the deciding factor in a game. (And my team-mates actually encouraged me to throw grenades... something you'll never hear, 'Muttley. ;) ) : I've never been one for the Zombies gametype, but we played it on Backwash,
More Tru7h. That map is eerily appropriate for Zombies, and tons of fun too. : We played more. Between you, me and the gatepost, single bomb on Gemini was a
I could definitely see this becoming a LAN staple, too. Try it in custom games on Live, but consult your local physician first. Side effects include chest pains, nausea, hoarse voice, thumb cramps, blood-shot eyes, and rampant paranoia. : Somewhat foolishly, I suggested a USA vs The Rest Of The World best-of-three
Understatement of the decade there. We were so owned our great-grandchildren would still be scraping up the cost of manumission. Good thing I escaped on the Freedom Train. : By now, everyone was pretty Haloed out. We chilled and watched a movie
More truth here. Mig's cooking was marvellous, and I still feel a tad guilty for not offering to help wash up or something afterwards because the food was that good. And as for the spirit of gaming; heck, this "Mature"-rated "murder simulator" brought together people from half the globe to experience cameraderie and share the spirit of fun. Maybe we should be making games like this mandatory for young children instead of shuffling them off to "safe" games that keep them in isolation from each other, learning only to be some Pavlovian-conditioned pixel-pusher with vastly inadequate social skills. If for no other reason, Halo is great because it makes events like "SufferTHIS!" possible. Thanks, everyone! I had an absolute blast, and the next time one of these gets run (and I have some time off work due) I'd be more than happy to hazard the perils of Amtrak again. -- Steve did the math; he spent 2 hours more riding trains than playing... but it was so worth it. |
