In Response To: I have yet to read that book... *NM* (Phan7om) There is no better book for SciFi nerds than Ringworld. It comes out as the perfect definition of the genre- REAL science (research papers have been written over this book) and awesome fiction (completely compelling, etc). Ringworld is also the best of the series, as I think the further the books go down the line, the more they lose the essential something that makes Ringworld- the idea of being aliens on a new and uncharted world. And as a tangent, there's also the book Protector (to be read before or after the Engineers book for full effect) which is my second-fav in the series. Starhammer looks like a good idea for my next birthday/Christmas season, and I can't wait to learn more about the Vang (the Vang are the race that inspired the Flood, yes?). | |
