Don't suppose it occurred to anyone that the massive engine rewrite might be something along the lines of, "If I could do whatever I wanted with it I'd put ____ in" sort of thing? Bungie + more peeps + more $$$ = a new generation of ass-kicking games, if you ask me. And if you say you didn't, I'll ignore you. 8^)
Considering that all Bungie's games were financed by the success of the previous game, I think even many of the truly faithful among the Bungie "faithful" will be pretty amazed by what can come out.
Just because MS's big, doesn't mean no good can come of it. I really don't like the way it works, but this is a capitalist society we live in, and it basically says, "If you don't do everything you can to make a profit, you're an idiot and should lose all your money. Q.E.D."

I do believe that's about it.
