Remmber also that lack of evidence is not proof against. Im not sure if i remembered to mention it, but my opinion was that they could only configure themselves at birth, so each spore would optomise itself for its atmosphere when it was spawned. As for the atmoshphere change i believe its chaningi it inot spores [just look at high charity in the final cutscene] : With only three areas where nutrients can be absorbed, it seems like this : makes it even harder for the Flood Cell to even GET food. The wall of the cell is calcium thus explaining the sue of calcium [art of halo]. I suppose that it survives by eating other cells, look at the mouth, its bigger than most cells.
