In Response To: Re: Scarab use on Earth (Red Loser) : Hey, wow, I'd wondered the same thing myself. Now it's been answered. : Great comments, guys! Thanks! Oh, and I love your Yellow Banshee site. :) I just played through the first three levels again, and something else struck me: If Regret was going to use the Scarab to dig something up, then it might not be such a coincidence that he bugged out immediately after it was destroyed. The sequence goes like this: Regret detects a (hypothesized) Forerunner artifact on Earth, and makes a beeline for it straight through the orbital defenses, pausing only to have a few of the MAC guns destroyed to clear a path. He communicates with it remotely, and obtains the location of Delta Halo; he may even have done this from orbit, in which case he went to the surface only to physically recover the artifact. He drops ground forces, including a Scarab digging machine. When the Chief neutralizes it, Regret decides that he's accomplished enough already, and runs for Delta Halo. Sound reasonable?
