In Response To: Hunters Immune to the Flood? (from Art of Halo) (Anton P. Nym (aka Steve))
Generally, this makes sense... If you've read any of Christopher Rowley's "Starhammer" books, you'll see how much Bungie 'borrowed,' er, ripped-off Rowley. The Vang are essentially the same thing, and as Guilty Spark pointed out in Halo's "Two Betrayals" level, any organism of sufficient biomass is a potential host. Thus, if the Hunters are a symbiosis of worm-like creatures, each worm is not sufficient (pardon the pun) grub for the Flood/Vang to consume. And if you noticed in the level which is just "Gravemind" backwards (I fail to recall the name, it's the 14th level) the Flood create strange piles or growths on things, which is, following the Vang blueprint, a storage system for the enhancement of current weapons and hosts. Which means that while the Hunters cannot be directly infested, they are a food source for the Flood.
