But I'll spell it out once more: NO OXYGEN = NO HYDROCARBON COMBUSTION. The Grunt homeworld atmosphere will not ignite. I'll tell you this now, and I'll tell you the same thing in a year and a half when I'm accepted for my doctorate in chemistry. If UNSC weapons operate in vacuum they will work in a reducing atmosphere. But they will not set off the air in one great woomph. Even if a little bit of oxygen is hanging around, this won't happen, because as soon as it has all combined with the hydrogen and carbon, there's none left for further reaction. The vast majority of flammable things on Earth do not spontaneously combust due to the activation energy required for such chemical reactions. Anything else you'd like to know?
