Because if they weren't they would have to kneel down to go through them. Why are all green doors open and red doors closed? Because if the colors switched they might confuse you. Why do they even need buttons? So they can activate things. Most doors are motion-detected anyway. Why do they need maps? So they can have a point of reference and not get lost. Why does the Monitor speak english? So you can understand him. The Jackels don't speak English. Neither do the Elites. Would you understand the storyline if he spoke German? How about Japanese?
