We don't know who or what Cortana is. I know there was speculation that he/she was Durandal, but I think this has been disproven. Nathan told us that the game takes place during Durandal's 17 year search for Lh'owon. Thus, Cortana cannot be Durandal. Cortana can't be Leela, as she was taken away by the Pfhor and ended up rampant as loon on the Vaylae Computer Network. Cortana is not Tycho. That should be pretty plain and simple. Cortana COULD be Traxus IV, assuming Traxus was not hacked up to create Durandal, Tycho, and Leela (or Durandal is not Traxus) as has been speculated. Cortana COULD be the other Tau Ceti AI spoken of in the Lost Network Packets, Hero (sorry, I'm not sure if Hero exists or not. I remember hearing about her somewhere, tho). Cortana COULD be a Jjaro AI, native to the Halo. Cortana COULD be a Rampant Covenant AI. Cortana COULD be a completely NEW AI. (: Jägermeister :)
