> I love Bungie, but I have to agree with you on this. While I'd love to have that video in my grubby little hands right this minute too, I understand why Bungie is doing this. Bungie has an incredible number of Macintosh fans, but hardly any PC fans (when compared to the big enchilada anyhow), notice how half of the PC gaming websites/magazines keep mentioning how awesome Halo is, but also say that it's such a surprise that it's coming from Bungie, this practically no-name developer. Mac users (myself included) get rather angry (sometimes anyhow, heh) when these magazines/websites/etc say that kind of stuff, in fact if you don't believe me there's even a thread a little way down that mentions something similar about this. Also notice that Bungie gave this exclusive to a major PC gaming mag. In the past, Bungie was giving all of their exclusives to magazines like Inside Mac Games and other Mac magazines (even when they made Myth for both the PC and Mac). They've got the unrelenting respect of the Mac users, now they're working on getting the respect of the PC users out there that never heard of them. A little while ago somebody at Bungie (though I can't recall who, or what the exact quote was) said something along the lines of "It's great to finally be noticed." When they made the Marathon games they would call up various magazines and such and say who they were and most of them would say "You're who?" Now people know who they are, they're getting attention, attention that they deserve, and they're going to do what they can to make sure they can milk that attention for all it's worth. And in my opinion, they're doing a damned good job. Often times we forget that Bungies main goal is not to make us happy, not to appease us... but rather, to take over the world. I think they just want everyone to know who they are when they eventually crown themselves. ~B-Sharp |
