actually, ACG is the codon (a sequence of three RNA residues that code for a particular amino-acid) that encodes threonine. The abbreviation for threonine is Thr or T.

Some more info on Threonine: its molecular formula is C4H9NO3, it is one of five amino acids that are polar and hydrophilic (thus it is very often found on the outside of proteins), the chemical group that defines it (CH3CHOH) very closely resembles ethanol (grain alcohol- CH3CH2OH... the chemical group on threonine is essentially ethanol with an amino acid backbone attached to it), and it is one of two amino acids that become dehydrated when exposed to high-temperature acidic conditions (serine is the other one). I don't know if any of that is relevant... but its nice to know ;)
