Yeah I totally assume it is embarrassment.
The difference for me, when it comes to yelling as loudly as I can, is that some things we (the A1 authors / the small team that worked on the 1.0 releases / the "community" / the public) were explicitly asked not to distribute: the Marathon CD audio, EMR, Trojan. For a while, Tempus Irae. Those things I'll complain about often enough that people who missed the previous discussion know what's going on. I also dislike plagiarism, and license violations of code I wrote. The rest I just let go.
