I'm not saying it wouldn't be possible, it just doesn't support pseudo open world level transfers or minor skill systems like the Strife version of the Doom engine does as Aleph One was made first, and most importantly to play Marathon. You can be sent back to other levels, or follow another path of levels, but there are subtle differences in an RPG shooter hybrid ( maybe not in pID as much as in Strife) like new quests or switching terminal texts in one map after a completely different one. Also, having to teleport from place to place fits Marathon's disjointed spread out locales better, but not entering a map simply by taking a lift up or down or following a hallway between the two maps. Not that teleport exits wouldn't fit at all mind; the context needs to be sound e.g. the main map entrance collapses and a teleport takes you out, or using jump pads as a fast travel system between hubs to avoid constant Gnopping between the current quest-map and a supply shop. It doesn't even have to be an editor update, it could be a separate addition to Aleph One. If the source code for everything else other than the free level transfers a-la Strife and/or PID is already there, then those parts won't need to be added. I only suggested the updates for editors as well in case they currently had no way to implement the level transfers etc.
