: You don't really need mouse control once you get used to it, since there's no
: verticality. Just adjusting to the slower speeds is one of the harder
: things to get used to. My best strategy is just to find chokepoints to
: defend, and wait around the corner. Headless are pretty easy to take down
: that way without taking damage. Retreating if you're surrounded is also
: important. But yeah, it's hard, for sure.
There is mouse control, isn't there? It's just god awful. Since there's no look up or down, pushing forward on the mouse moves you forward, and pulling back moves you backwards, and IIRC it makes it difficult to click into the inventory window and pause for the more difficult portions of the game where maybe taking a pause and swig of something would be nice mid fight.
I have no idea if that's the case for the OS X port though.
Learn the keyboard set up. Its not great but every person who'se beaten PID has used those controls. Can't you feel the weight of 20 years of gaming at your back?
Alternately you could probably find a game pad or key mapper to do whatever you want, WRT button layouts.
