: Glad you think so too. I never thought that a port of PiD could be done by
: just about anybody. However, I do think it would probably be less
: difficult to create than Aleph One was. The game really operates around
: 2D, top-down mechanics; the only '3D' element is the graphics, which are
: really just total simulations. That in itself should make things a whole
: lot easier.

I agree that the idea isn't silly by itself. What is a bit silly is the underestimation of how much effort such a project would take, and egging people on to undertake such a project being a large part of the effort yourself. It's human nature that people get annoyed with this.
Don't get me wrong---I'm as guilty of effort underestimation as the next guy. But I've lived enough of life to realize that such an effort would take many months to more than a year to complete.
If you're truly passionate about this idea, what I would encourage you do is to think about the steps it would take make a game like PiD, and actually start implementing them. I mean this. (Despite the occasional silliness, I think you're a fairly intelligent kid.) Whether or not you succeed, you will learn a ton about analytic geometry, programming, and the grit it takes to see a project through to completion. And all these things are incredibly valuable skills in the real world.
Sincerely,
