![]() | In Response To: Re: chapter 5 terminal needing editing (patrick) I've Got A Bad Feeling About This, poly 1010, quote- -do not try to save me or ressurect my mind. This error is also found in the second message of the terminal at poly 394. I submit that poly 394's terminal should not contain this exit message--it is perfectly possible for a player to leave from here without visiting the last section of the vessel--completing missing what I deem to be the map's raison d'etre: the view from poly 369(and see note 3 below). Additional Comments: 1) Gravitronic blades can kill Nightmares drifting behind sealed windows. See for example the spearfishing to be had from poly 67. By design? 2) Again, it's my opinion that this texture set does not look good applied to spaceships. While on the whole I would say that these textures are simply inferior to your pfhor, s'pht, and even drinniol sets, I would note that they are particularly out of their element here. 3) My opinion has not changed since MK V that Eternal's strongest narrative moment is precisely the player's final approach to the fateful windowpane here--the 'gotcha' feels well calculated, and the player is able to sort out the ramifications of his previous actions quite independently of the terminal texts. Even though this moment is locked down within the larger plot the way it unfolds feels 'emergent' rather than 'dictated'--the player finds the view on his own and then thinks on it. The alternative, verbal exposition, would have been weaker. I do find it worthy of note that my favorite moment in a story committed to verbosity is delivered wordlessly.
