Obviously, which is why the prefs file was pointing to them, and hence my post previous to the one quoted.
:I had the same problem, but instead of deleting prefs, I deleted the old Eternal :X.
With regard to the persist-corrupt state of the save game that was quoted in the above post, it persisted despite a fresh prefs file and the archiving of the older iteration. I only made mentionof it to answer the potential "I deleted my prefs/old files BUT the problem still remains when I load the save" niggle that might arise in the mind of another. In any case, it's irrelevant now.
