: While the Jjaro.net thing looks nice and is definitely in the spirit of some
: of the more unusual corners of Bungie lore, the reaction from Halo fanbois
: who thought it was a new ILB was... well... sickening. I spent large
: amounts of time wishing I could become a B.net ninja just to deal with all
: the kiddies who wouldn't listen to reason, even after the site's creator
: showed up and explained that no, it wasn't an official Bungie production.
: How did we ever manage to attract so many idiots?
My emotions went through a process, roughly this:
1) Excitement about being Internet-famous
2) Dismay that no one knew enough about Marathon to realize that this was about Marathon.
3) Acceptance. I mean, seriously. What else would you expect from the general Halo community?
No offense to you guys who participate in the Halo community, but it's pretty insane. Though, to be honest, the Marathon community is insane in very similar ways as well. The difference is that the Marathon community is decently versed in literature, and its theories run under that guise, a sort of faux intelligence that lends credibility to our otherwise pure speculation. Halo folk just let is all hang out.
Maybe we're not that different after all. :)
