: It's not 100% true, Chris, just like Treellama explained me, you should NOT
: ignore the limits errors/messages in Forge. You can go over them a little,
: but making overdetailed maps could crash Aleph one like you would crash
: Forge. It should be best to test those kind of maps on older computer
: because you can get random drastic slowdowns, and maybe rendering
: problems, if you go over forge's limits, if you need some extra WU, or
: maybe a few more lines, it should not be a problem tho...But Marathon
: weapons barely work at 28 WU, imagine at 50 WU :P
I'm using a five year old mac, and I have maps that were made without any concideration to any in-game limits at all (as long as I was able to actually work on the map without crashing the Classic mode) - and no crashes. The only severe slowdowns I experienced involved long views with high-resolution landscapes - and I solved that by setting the landscapes to 50% resolution. Haven't experienced any problems with the weapons either.
And again - I'm doing this on a five year old mac. B)
: My advice: stay with Forge limits, if you really, really need to go over them
: a little, then go for it, as long as you're sure it won't crash A1.
Well, in the not too distant future, many people (hopefully) will be running around on maps that blow these limits out of the water. One way or the other, we'll know what happens when those limits are exceeded.
