Exactly! Dinosaur Comics' forum made registration mandatory, and spam only continued to increase in volume. Registration is no barrier at all for the spambots in circulation these days. Also, word/number images are less of a barrier to humans, since they don't have to commit to one name forever, and established members can post things anonymously if they want. Actually, I think the solution TABB is currently trying involves requiring new members to email an admin to have their account activated manually. I regret this, as I was looking forward to seeing more guest posts by people who have interesting/informative things to say but can't be arsed to register. ref: truthandbeautybombs.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=7140 | |
