I've fallen in technolust.
Earlier in the month an obscure marketing video came to light about the Origami, a new project by Microsoft and Intel. Later we found that Origami was setting standards for what they're calling "ultramobile personal computers" or UMPCs; full-function PCs running full Windows operating systems (XP right now, Vista soon) with 7" touchscreen monitors and weighing less than a kilogram (c. 2lbs). Well, two weeks ago a bunch of pre-production models hit the floor at CeBit... and the reports have me abuzz. I want one. I want one very badly.
The video showed mocked-up video of someone waiting at a subway station and playing Halo, but the standards released (at least for this generation, anyway) fall far short of the mark.
However, I think it'll run M1A1 just fine.
Here's a link to the specifications for my personal favourite model, the Samsung Q1. (make sure to check the "features" link for a better overview. Of all the models, it's the lightest and the one with the fewest battery-draining gadgets hanging off it.
My questions are two; firstly, are there any show-stoppers that you can see? Secondly, would such a gadget interest you?
