: A few simple observations - the music in the AO version (and perhaps the M2
: Win version) seems significantly different than in the M1 version. I'm not
: sure if the tune is different or if it's just all the extra percussion in
: the AO version, but it sure sounds different. Perhaps this could also be
: related to different Quicktime MIDI rendering in M1. I'm curious if anyone
: else who has access to both could elaborate more on this.
The music in the M1 version depends on what QuickTime version you have installed. You're probably listening to it with QT6, whereas the MP3s were probably recorded from the MIDIs using QT3, or whatever version the music was originally created for.
"Acess to both"? You don't need access to AO, since the MP3s should sound the same anywhere. But one might compare the MIDIs between different QuickTime versions, if one wanted to.
The MIDIs should sound the same in QT Player as in M1, but that's less certain.
Music in M2 Win? Last I checked, no version of M2 had in-game music support.
