Just to add the necessary scepticism to the debate, keep in mind that the OS X on Intel rumour comes up every 6 months or so. It could be that Apple was seriously considering moving to x86 when they finally got fed up with Motorola's chip production problems, but went with IBM at the last minute. Anyone remember that leaked internal IBM memo which crowed about them getting the G5 into Macs rather than an Intel chip? That probably indicated that Apple made a decision between IBM and Intel back before the G5 PMac came out, so maybe the WSJ caught some belated wind of that. Or they accidentally stepped into a time warp. :)
As far as I'm concerned, I'm not going to start believing this rumour until Apple announces that they're moving to Intel. It's been around way too long for it to suddenly start coming true tomorrow without a real provocation. Sure, IBM hasn't delivered on the 3GHz G5 yet (even though that's what's running the Xbox 2pi, isn't it?!), but there hasn't been anything nearly as bad as the problems Motorola dished out before Apple dumped them.
