Thanks Kirk. I can't picture the Marine as a blonde either... my mental image is some sort of hodgepodge of Mad Max and Henry Rollins, so he always has black hair.
No idea how that mental image formed, but there it is.
And cc-vortex, you are correct sir. Perfect interpretation of the mood I was looking for.
Artistic license: the static on the terminal. Technically, only a CRT TV would do that. I'd assume the Marathon uses more up-to-date technology for their terms, and LCD and plasma displays just don't do that. But it looks pretty cool.
