(Is it a : coincidence it's seven hundred seventy seven million?) : That, times ten, is 7,776,000,000. So, it's well over 7 billion. That's : pretty close to the population of Earth now. I was expecting to get an : absurd number but that's actually a pretty realistic. : Of course, we have to subtract the 777,600,000 that died after the coup, : leaving us with a remaining population of... 7,000,000,000. : Seven Billion exactly. Hamish, thanks for helping me remember that data point! VikingBoyBilly, brilliant! After pondering this darker question for a bit I needed that laugh. :-) Of course, as you mentioned your final number is pretty realistic, or at least within the realm of believability for a science fiction story. I suspect that a sadistic computer was directly responsible for these deaths. So, approaching this question like a sadistic computer... actually seems very reasonable to me. Thanks for your input!
