The Pfhor are bugs, so I kind of assume that the "creche" is an egg sac, like the kind cockroaches lay that like a billion hatchlings come out of. It would dry out pretty quickly if it were left undisturbed afterward, I think.
(Now excuse me while I go get some brain bleach)
