Well AFAIK the M1 terms didn't allow for images (outside of the logon/logoff screens, and even then it only ever seemed to use one image) or multi-column text; the best they allowed for were map images that were generated in-game in the style of the automap. The only way I could see them pulling off that trick in M1 would be to use an Information terminal and to write the lines of each column together as one combined line with spaces in-between, thus simulating having two columns when in fact it's one big block of text.
