I'm not certain about that yet, but thinking about that in connection with some ideas I've been having for fleshing out some Life in Another World stories, I'm considering the possibility that they are all Metis. : Also, nice red herrings for those reading in nonlinear order. Thanks :) Though I'm not sure which order you're thinking of as nonlinear? In all of the reading orders that have occurred to me, you would end up reading the Virtuality series last. I wanted some of those fake-outs to be fake-revelations for people who had already read Resurgent too, like the bit about everything Metis experienced after returning from Venus (so basically Sol Resurgent parts 2 and 3) having been in a simulation that she was subjected to, while "in reality" the nuclear war averted at the end of part 1 actually happened. Until all that turns out to be a lie. : (Something's bugging me about Sue and Tom's respective protagonist-ness, but
Like how Sue's not as much a protagonist as Tom? Yeah, that bugs me, and I'm being kind of lazy in doing anything about it. I intend for them to be co-protagonists, but since their original characters were basically constructed to be opposites, Xiuying a normal traditional grandma who minds her own business and Tom an aggressive weirdo pushing the limits of transhumanity, interesting things for Tom to do just spring more readily to mind. But I want at some point to give Xiu more interesting screen time too. : So does this affect your timetable for filling out the outline for Quelouva? Not really. This week and next will still be the end of the regularly scheduled aspect of this phase of writing, with the rest of the year after that (where I can fit it in between holidays) being "cleanup" before I finally call this phase done. I'll reorganize the existing writing for the Pantheon/Eye of Chaos transition at the start of that, and I'm hoping to find time to go through anywhere that an episode has too little meat to it after such reorganizations (like in parts of the Otherworld series after that reorganization) and flesh them out to the standards of the rest of the outline.
