I'm pretty sure Tomato said once that Itoi did not tell the artist what to make Giygas look like. His only input was his text, which is only obviously rapey after you know about that and look back on it.
Lots of n00bs kept misunderstanding the time travel, too. You ARE NOT fighting a Giygas from the past. You are meeting Giygas where he WENT BACK IN TIME HIMSELF to, meaning that is him at his oldest, not his youngest. It's because of the stupid fetus theory that started that misconception.
I don't know how you can get a "literal" translation unless you're playing a version that has romanized text in the Japanese language. Do you mean an uncut/uncensored translation?
