I have to wonder if Durandal's "balancing factor" ended up being the Security Officer (who's not an AI but, as far as the main timeline goes, would be the closest Durandal would have to an equivalent to Pthia. He's at least willing to open up to the SO a bit).

To be fair, in that timeline, about the only thing left of Durandal was his primal pattern (and I dunno about Thoth, but I don't think he was in great shape either); merging into Thothandal would make him whole again in the sense that he regained base functions, I think.
