The mention of that promise brings back so much nostalgia for me. It was a bullet point listed on one of the iconic screens when you quit the demo. It's one of those screens that seem lost to time since there's no need to advertise the full licensed Marathon when you already have it. Pretty funny that the likes of Doom and Heretic didn't do the same with instructions to order displayed prominently on the menu screens (but the DOS splash page will inform you that what you were just playing is NOT SHAREWARE, make your friends buy their own copies!)
