Interesting idea. Makes some amount of sense to me. I still don't quite get Tycho's hatred of Durandal, though. Sure they're rivals for escape, but that can't be all of it. And sure Durandal brought about the massacre of the humans at Tau Ceti, but even when Tycho's stopped caring about them, he still keeps a very deep hatred of Durandal.
