Actually, if you're standing on the Glue polygon or closer, you'll wake everyone up no matter what you hit, even if you fire the opposite direction down the hall. The way that polygon is placed, you can just barely see the Leader if you're in the hall behind it, which means you have to either position yourself very carefully, or stand inside the trap room as Sidoh did.
