Interesting. What follows is a bit off topic. I'm now playing (for the first time) M. Eternal. Forrest appears partial to the M1 version of several of the various entities. What's fun is the combination of old and new. On about any given level, you may encounter the original Hunter with its wolf howl AND a vacuum Bob AND a defense drone AND a Hulk AND a Spht' Kr. The variety is fun and it works since levels can be larger and more complex (higher poly count in the line of sight) using A1's engine.

It would be interesting to see a side by side comparison of the changes between versions of entities across the Trilogy, as it may have some bearing on your comparisons.
