Trojan Volunteers - Death Of Drummand

Well, I might as well resume the series. BTW, does anyone have any idea what the meaning of the name of this level is? A quick Google search doesn't turn up a whole lot - and fourth on the list is the Trojan Spoiler Guide!

Well, this is an interesting level. It's a bit strange and those platforms are really annoying - you have to shoot a switch opposite each platform and and jump to the next one at exactly the right moment or you'll fall off - but eventually you'll master it. Fortunately, the ammo here regenerates, so you don't have to worry about running out of ammo with which to shoot those switches. One helpful hint - when yout start the level, jump straight down and to the right - this will land you on the first ledge and give you access to a PB and 2X recharger - you'll need these - but you'll have to clear the area first! After this, you'll go through a succession of traps and trials, all to get to the right switches to lower a column of lava so that you can reach the final room.

One of the more interesting puzzles is in the southeast area of the map. We've all done pillar jumping before, but you will likely have to do it several times here and the pillars have a way of causing the player to skip off into the lava. Fortunately, there is a transporter down below that returns the player to the start, and a 3X recharger (it works in AO, too) midway through. Eventually, the player should be able to master the technique but, watch out, there are assimilated Bobs at the end and there's no space to escape them.

Just beyond that 3X recharger is another of the switch puzzles, and also a major secret. Down in the lava is a major ammo stash and an invincibility power-up. The problem is that it's a long way back to the top and the rocket launcher is not available until the end. Now of course you could wait until you retrieve the rocket launcer and come back, but there is an easier way - it just takes practice. You may notice that there are a couple of columns next to each other, one of which forms a V-shaped notch with the adjacent wall. The V is perfect for keeping the player in place while they use the AR to grenade-shoot back up to the top. The trick is to aim slightly into the wall.

Once the player gets to the end they will have to deal with some GenCorp troopers before getting that SPNKR. And with that it's off to Doughnuts for Dinner.
