I honestly don't understand people's insistence on finding connections between the two games in the scant hope they're connected or in the same universe. Can someone explain this to me? Not explain the connections, but explain why it matters if there are if they they occur in the same universe?

All I see are similarities, but overal just a lot of square holes and round pegs...
