Possibly, but Durandal says in the manual that "many years of loving craftsmanship" went into it, and I suppose this could mean the 17 years between M1 and M2, but I doubt it. By all accounts of the manual description, it is the same weapon used in the Ares raid hundreds of years before the attack on the Marathon. The weapon we know for sure was upgraded and produced by the S'Pht was the fusion pistol, and the manual tells us this...
