: I thought that K'lia left during the clan wars, a thousand years before the
: pfhor arrived, and that the remaining S'pht were greatly reduced by
: warring.

During the Clan Wars, the S'pht'Kr ascended to K'lia and stayed there above Lh'owon for a millenia. Then, a thousand years later, K'lia vanished. Coincidentally, the Pfhor attacked right about that time. From the Marathon Story Page timeline, slightly reformatted since I don't want to rebuild Hamish's table HTML:

A.D. 811 (from M2)
S'pht'Mnr attack S'pht'Kr. S'bhuth sends emissaries to the other clans. S'pht'Kr exodus to K'lia.

A.D. 1811 (from M2)
K'lia folds out of the Lh'owon system. Pfhor attack Lh'owon and enslave the ten remaining S'pht clans. A rogue star begins to pass through the Milky Way Galaxy.

Hmmm I forgot the bit about the rogue star. That's a bit coincidental there... wonder if I should work that in somehow. Don't want to step on Blayne's toes though.

: If he had simply not called the Kr, how would we have learned what we just
: screwed. They say that you need to fail in order to suceed.

Indeed, Leela says as much in the next failure, I believe. Or maybe the last one. I don't recall.
