In Response To: Today's happenings... (Break Point) Q: How do I know what is and isn't real today on the internet? A: None of it is. No one (hopefully) is dumb enough to release anything important on the internet on April Fools Day, because no one will take it seriously. Q: Are you sure? I saw this thing-- A: --it's not real. Q: But what about... A: No. April Fools Day on the 'net used to be fun. Folks would produce truly creative, wacky things, and everyone would get a good laugh. Nowadays it's a lot more about seeing what you can and can't trick people into believing, which IMHO isn't very fun at all, especially for the folks being tricked. Sorry to rain on everyone's 4-01 fun, but this is one of those things that gets to me. :-( Here's one April 1st classic from not too long ago: IP over avian carrier. Heck, here's one from today. These are quality April Fools Day stuff. | |
