: That's if the Halo in the credits is a different one. I think it is. : -Hedge I'm fairly sure I've written about the possibility of the covenant being a ring construct. But my reasoning was that it was the most plausible reason to have a Halo in Halo 2, wich I believe has been hinted at or comfirmed. It would also point to why the Covenant have an understanding of Halo's subsystems, and why the symbols on their backs match those found on Halo. I wonder if perhaps the monitor of their installation installed himself as god to the fledgling people, I mean if you think about why else would an advanced civilization continue in a cast based religious system, unless there was indeed some super powerful being controlling them. It also would explain why humanity is a target of the covenant. What would be a greater threat to a renegade AI than it's creator ? A rogue monitor would also explain why the covenant have not simply become all powerful using forerunner technology, if you had installed yourself as god, you wouldn't give away all your secrets. Also it ties in with my personal favorite idea, of the Halo incident, being an attempt by the elites wrest power from the prophets by gaining control of a Halo. Anyway, I would bet the covenant homeworld is either another ring construct, or some other kind of forerunner station. And though the monitor controlling the covenant is plausible, it seems a bit off for whatever reason. Anyway I may have to beat the maw again and take a look at it. |
