Someone posted that they....

In Response To: can never happen, IMO (Miguel Chavez)

Some one posted that they killed the elite from the Banshee on the first Halo level...cant remember who, or exactly what he did....but he said that the Banshee was flipped, and that he righted it ("Press X to flip Banshee"). But he couldnt enter it...it wouldnt say press X to enter Banshee.

That sounds believable to me....and I know you're right about certain levels being "tagged" for flying. It's no coincidence that all Banshee levels are in deep chasms with infinitely high walls.

You guys dont think Bungie's just gonna let you fly all over Halo do you?! That would be very hard to execute without making random terrain generators or making it more like a flight sim. So storywise it's not practical or necessary...but I do wish that they had more flight.

I really wish that they would have made a multiplayer map with Banshees!

: Here's my educated theory...

: Even if you get the Covie to fall out of the ship (has happened before by
: getting the ship to twist the right way, I've read here I think) the ship
: is 'tagged' as unflyable by humans. This is due to the map... you get in a
: banshee, and you can fly higher than the limits of the map, or break parts
: of the script. Like the second level, Halo. If you got the Banshee at the
: beginning, you'd expect to be able to fly above to any of the 4 different
: waypoints (the initial alien confrontation w/marines, and then the other 3
: waypoints) However, the forced move into the tunnel and light bridge helps
: hide the level loading that occurs in between sections of the map.

: The only areas where you can succeed in grabbing a banshee is only in maps
: where it's been designed for player-banshee flying in the first place.

: I'd love to hear any opposing theories, but I think the above makes the most
: sense.
