OpenSauce for HaloCE demonstration vid
Posted By: kornman00 <kornman00@gmail.com>Date: 5/3/11 9:24 p.m.

I forget if I've ever submitted a news source about OpenSauce on HBO before. Basically it's a project (open source) I've been working on, with the help of FireScythe for the HaloCE engine, for modifying the various Halo engines, tools, etc.

Well, recently FireScythe got around to making a demo video of his Postprocessing work that's used in OpenSauce for Halo Custom Edition. The video demonstrates the ability to not only use shader effects in HaloCE maps, but to also dynamically tweak them at run-time via the scenario's script. We also added the ability to give game objects (eg, bipeds, vehicles, etc) detail maps, as you'll see near the end with a Ghost and Elite ported from Halo 2. These are all but a small subset of features provided by OpenSauce for the HaloCE engine.

Reminder: all of this is done in-game, in real-time. The only thing done after the video capture was the inclusion of the Halo 2 OST song.

Originally, I was going to include this in the next Open Sauce news update that's getting posted along with the re-opening of Halomods.com, but it's such an awesome video that I didn't think it could wait another day or two.

Hope the sauce isn't too strong for you all! Oh, unless you're some brat spoiled by Reach and next-gen GFX, then you may feel this sauce is too "weak". That's OK, just scurry on back to your nothing-but-Forerunner-palettes Forge and Xbox 360.
