WOOOOOO! New Halo footage on BTV! | |

It was blocky, it was lagging, it was at 5 fps but it ROCKED! For one thing, we saw the beginnings of the game's interface. There were some white bars along the upper left of the screen. There was a small circle in the upper right, which rotated as the camera moved. I interpret that as a rotating direction radar, à la Terminal Velocity. The contents of the circle appeared to be static tho. We saw the Marine running around, and firing the minigun while crouching. He really looked like he was wrestling with the gun's recoil as he fired. He fired the rocket launcher a little, then he jumpoed in the jeep. It was hard to tell with the bad quality, but the jeep seemed to be going much faster than it did in the IncitePC movie. He caugth air off a few hills before losing control and actually flipping the jeep down a slope. It landed upright with no sign of damage tho. Then he got aboard the BAT. He swiveled the turret a few times, showing off the way its parts actually hinge and rotate. When he fired it there was a giant blast of smoke that obscured the tank (the camera was very close). He also sprayed a few dozen rounds fromt he secondary machine gun next to the main barrel. There was a little footage of a grndsprtcrft doing hard turns and loops over the bridge we keep seeing. The viewpoint was very dynamic, spinning all around the craft, at one point directly above it. Of coruse, they also wasted a chance to explain more fully their 3rdperson system when Matt Soell (now known to be pronounced "sell") answered a letter asking about perspective but made some lame joke about toilet seats instead of providing real information. Please tell me someone on a high-bandwidth line recorded this, it looks like the most impressive images yet. |
