In Response To: Marathon timeline (Uriel) : i think i've spotted a mistake in this section. : it reads: 2886 M Leela's light-speed warning message reaches Earth : well, this is based on what leela was thinking about the distance from earth
: but as described in the "distances" section: "Bungie knows
: , the real distance is much shorter and thus, the message should have arrived
: i hope, i didn't forget anything. : Uriel Yep, looks like your math is right. I think this was mentioned before, but it's always fun to bring these up again and shed new light on them... So, how come Tau Ceti colony is farther away from Earth than Tau Ceti? Did they get lost en route? Did the UESC lie about the actual destination? Hm, maybe Leela lied about the distance in the terminal post so the compilers wouldn't get the data. After all, if they knew that Earth was 11.5ly away, the Pfhor could easily check everything on that circumferance for inhabited planets. By saying it was 92ly instead, they get sent on a wild goose chase. Leela was messing up dates and distances in the ship's files to confuse the compilers. "Don't believe everything you read." Right? |
