Terry Nowicki decided to post a link to one of the Story page animated gifs this morning in a Fark.com forum thread. 15 or 20,000 downloads of a 30k image file in a short time can do damage to the puny T1 that runs out of here... it could just be that the pipe was overloaded for a little while.
(I'd really, really appreciate it if folks would CONSIDER where the bandwidth is coming from when they do things like this... if you're hosting the file yourself, fine, but if you're linking to a file here, you can do pretty serious damage with sites as big as Fark or /. - just something to think about.)
