(goes to site and : takes a look) Hmm.. 28 thousand downloads. Not bad. B) They don't GET opinions, anyway. : ) : 2) Members of the Nardo group (you know, the guys who did TI) - especially : JHT. He absolutely *hated* Rubicon. : 3) "Frigidman" and his court. FM wrote a long critique which (IIRC) : had some valid criticisms, some subjective issues which he is free to : have, and some complaints that were so specious that I was left with the : impression he was searching for things to complain about - such as : pre-dead Bobs and monsters that would kill each other while the player : wasn't looking. And then of course all those kewl d00dz at the evihcra : forums chimed in in an attempt at emulating their hero. There were threads : there titled "Red Rox Rubicon Sux" (or some such thing). Quite : silly, really. I wonder if those threads are still available at evihcra? Like I said. When someone has leveled dual shotguns at your scenarios, and then surgically blown them out of the water, you tend to have a negative reaction. We can't blame them, it's not really their fault. : ) : A common complaint from 2) and 3) was the lack of flow in the levels. Uh.. : ok? Having read enough of those complaints, I'm left with the impression : that the players would have preferred linear levels where the player only : had one place to go. Personally, I prefer levels that feel like real : places - and that means being able to go a great many different places. : But each to his/her own taste. ||Warning: Hero Worship. Mapmakers, avert your eyes.|| Yeah! That's what made Rubicon stand out. The levels weren't just a single corridor that had been extraploated into a map with some fancy fiddling. That, and the texture use is so good it makes just about every level feel incomplete. That's what you did, you lot. You totally ruined every other level in existance for me because I sit here thinking, "Oh, Rubicon did that better". "That looks cooler in Rubicon" "These terms aren't as good as Rubicon's". : ) That's why I say, download and play *every other* scenario before you play Rubicon.
